How it’s calculated
- Rate = 0.3¢/kWh × the IRS inflation adjustment factor, rounded to the nearest 0.05¢, × 5 if prevailing wage & apprenticeship rules are met. Each bonus adds 10% of that amount. IRS factors: 2025 = 1.9971, 2026 = 2.0570; later years grow at your inflation assumption.
- Wind placed in service in 2025 or later claims the technology-neutral §45Y credit, which uses the same rate math as §45.
- Under the 2025 tax law (P.L. 119-21), wind must begin construction by July 4, 2026 or be placed in service by December 31, 2027. Projects starting construction after 2025 also face foreign-entity (FEOC) sourcing limits, which this calculator doesn’t test.
- Present value discounts each year’s credit to the placed-in-service date. It’s an illustration, not tax advice.
